Joanne O'Callaghan moved to Hong Kong nine years ago from Australia and was immediately charmed by her new situation. With a sense of adventure and curiosity, she and her husband explored not just the city, but also outlying areas. Following the arrival of her daughter she began to see her surroundings in a different way - this book shares her family's rediscovery of Hong Kong through the eyes of a child. Ralph Kiggell, the book's illustrator, is an English artist living in Bangkok. He studied Chinese at London University then lived and worked in China and Hong Kong for several years. In 1990, he went to Japan to learn Ukiyoe printmaking at the famous Yoshida print studio. Later, he studied contemporary woodblock printing in Kyoto, before completing a Masters in Fine Art at Tama Art University, Tokyo. Ralph has long been fascinated by the Japanese woodblock print and has experimented and developed his own methods and techniques based on Japanese traditions. While Ralph has exhibited and lived in many countries around the world, this book gives him a chance to return to one of his favourite places - Hong Kong. My Hong Kong is Ralph's third book.
