The Kate Greenaway Book contains a short biography and selections from her best-known as well as little-known works: a collection of texts and pictures - some never even published before - charmingly arranged for readers of all ages to enjoy.

Kate Greenaway (Catherine Greenaway) was an English Victorian artist and writer, known for her children's book illustrations. She received her education in graphic design and art between 1858 and 1871 from the Finsbury School of Art, the South Kensington School of Art, the Heatherley School of Art and the Slade School of Fine Art.

The Kate Greenaway Medal, established in her honour in 1955, is awarded annually by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals in the UK to an illustrator of children's books.

Bryan Holme was an author and publisher of photographic and art books. He moved to the United States in 1929 and subsequently founded Studio Publications, which published art and illustated books; he also published The Studio, a London-based art magazine. It was later acquired by Viking Press.
