One of the best loved children's books of all time, The Secret Garden tells the story of how two unhappy children - disagreeable Mary and invalid Colin - find happiness through the magic of nature.

Mary, a thin, awkward girl, is packed off to her uncle's country house on the Yorkshire Moors. There she meets Dickon, a local boy who can charm the animals, and Colin, her spoilt cousin. There, too, a robin leads her to the secret garden in which the children create a flowering world of their own.

The reader shares the children's "excitement, and wonder, and delight" as the garden blooms.

Frances Hodgson Burnett explores all the thoughts and feelings of the children in wonderfully accurate detail, and makes nature itself a living force in the story.

Illustrated by acclaimed artist Michael Hague in this edition.
